Topamax, Day 7...50 mg's today!

Okay, so today is day 1 of 50 mg (well, 1st purposeful 50mg day that is). I took my Topa at 7am and will be taking my night time dose tonight around 7 pm (each dose is 25 mg incase you too are taking Top an can't quite figure that out). So far not too bad. Had the tingly thing once or twice, but not bad. Felt really crappy and dizzy at lunch and feeling sort that way right now (almost 6 PM) but the rest of the day was pretty uneventful. I was able to concentrate at work, got my work done, could spell, talk, etc. Wasn't overly energetic, but hey, its a Monday, so what do you expect? I didn't wake up with keyboard impressions on my forehead so I consider that a plus.
I'm not really noticing much of an appetite decrease though, which is a bummer. I really would like that one side effect out of them all! I do stil have a headache though! I swear I think I have more on the Top than off!!!!! I will give it until my follow up (2 months) ... (more)
My Topamax jouney, days 1-6

My doctor started me on Topamax as a preventative for migraines and I've been reading all sorts of good and scary things so I wanted to start a blog to document the good and bads of what I experience. Since I didn't have this bright idea until today and I'm 6 days in, I'll have to play catch up, so here goes.
First...my history. I have had migraines for 15+ years now. WOW! I've never really looked at it that way, but it has been that long. Wow again! For those that don't have them, first, you are lucky, second, they are not all the same. Most people think of them as either 1. just a regular headache that a wimpy person is whining about or 2. a horrible pain like your head will explode and you throw up and can't move and you want to throw yourself in front of a semi to get it all over with except you are in too much pain to walk out the door much less all the way to the road.

Welcome to my life as I know it....

Okay, so everyone else in the world has a blog and has for umpteen years already so I guess I should join in. I mean, the husband and daughter are on the boat, oldest son is batteling some wii creature at a friend's house and the littlest son is napping so what else can I do. Well, I could clean the mess the toddler made, but I really am not feeling that ambitious today, so here goes nothing!
So, here's me in a nutshell. I grew up in Florida in your typical screwed up just enough to not be ideal but not enough to make the news family. Married a guy I really didn't know when I was really young and started a family way to young. But before I go further, let me say that what I'm saying here is not regrets or complaints, just stating how it was...how it is, is how it is and I wouldn't change it. I mean, I wouldn't tell my daughter to get married at 20 and have a baby at 21 to a guy she met in a bar that pulled in to port on a sub for a long weekend and dated long ... (more)
